Animal-assisted interaction utilises the positive effect of animals on people to promote their emotional, social and cognitive skills and improve their quality of life. The families and children from the SCHIRM project’s socio-educational family support programme were able to see this for themselves last week. The “Kontakt-Tier-Bar” team, led by animal therapist Sascha Strauß, visited the SCHIRM project last week and made children’s hearts and the hearts of animal lovers beat faster. Among other things, Mr Strauß’ team brought two goats, several guinea pigs and numerous rabbits to SCHIRM. In addition to contact with the animals and handling them, the focus was also on information about the animals’ feeding behaviour and husbandry. The families and children experienced the animals up close, were extremely interested and had great fun with the animals. Many of the children will remember this afternoon for a long time and it left a positive impression on the families.
“Contact Animal Bar” in the SCHIRM project
Animals help people to feel better. Last week, animal therapist Sascha Strauß and his team were at the SCHIRM project. They had goats, guinea pigs and rabbits with them. The children and families learnt a lot about the animals and had fun. The day was wonderful and they will remember it for a long time.
